Become a

Catechist

Our catechists are parish volunteers dedicated to teaching the faith to catholic children in the public primary schools in Lane Cove.

Moved by the love of God, our catechists play a vital role in leading children to a relationship with the living God.

The definitive aim of catechesis is to put people not only in touch, but also in communion and intimacy, with Jesus Christ, and by him to be led to the love of the Father in the Spirit and share in the life of the Holy Trinity
— Pope John Paul II, Catechesi Tradendae, 5

Catechist Impact

  • Over the past 60 years, CCD Sydney has taught over 1 million Catholic children in public schools.

  • Currently 28,000 children are taught every week in some 400 schools across Sydney.

  • This work is a direct result of the tireless efforts and selfless generosity of 1,900 dedicated people we call catechists.
